2002.03.12 i trusted no one:

the show: last night i ventured out to the skatepark to check out irina, black widows, pretty girls make graves and small brown bike. the show was long and loud. irina pulled out all the stops, but seemed to suffer from being way up on the stage. they made numerous comments about how quiet the crowd was and even asked "is it the stage?" someone's witty response: "it's because you're not playing music." black widows shredded, as usual…and then i was introduced to pretty girls make graves. there was a lot going on under the hood of that rock and roll outfit, to say the least. comprised of (as i'm told) ex-members of murder city devils and kill sadie, they tried their best to blow the whole damn roof off the place. the show ended when the bass player ended up breaking a string on his third bass of the evening (this one belonging to small brown bike, the first two being his). needless to say, they rocked.

small brown bike took the stage after ironing out the bass string issue, and played all material from their newest record, with two new songs sprinkled in. the new stuff is sounding great. they made me promise to be in ddetroit for michigan fest on saturday the 23rd, mainly because i mentioned it was a possibility.

and they finagled a copy of the march mix from me. i mentioned it because it had a track of their's on it, and they wanted to see it. "this looks cool…can we have it for the ride home?"

i talked to a very cute girl at the show. she ended up with my number. we'll see if she calls.

now: i am sitting at work with a splitting headache. i have successfully wasted my last few minutes here by writing this show review in the guise of a normal post. i am crafty like that.

now i'm going to leave.
